Teaching Associate and researcher in Inorganic and Physical Chemistry (Fixed Term)

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Teaching Associate and Researcher in Inorganic and Physical Chemistry. The post will be equally split between undergraduate teaching and research.
Teaching responsibilities include: planning and delivering tutorials, lectures and laboratory classes; assessing students' work; developing new teaching resources; and providing pastoral support for students on their journey through our programmes.
Research responsibilities include: conducting and supporting research within Professor George's research group into advanced spectroscopy and process monitoring for a wide range of chemical reactions; co-supervising undergraduate and/or postgraduate research projects; and contributing to the preparation of scientific articles as appropriate.
You will also be expected to contribute to the overall academic administration and collegiality of the School.
The successful candidate will have:
- A first degree in chemistry and a PhD in Inorganic or Physical Chemistry, or fields strongly aligned with these areas.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex information with clarity.
- Experience and familiarity with undergraduate laboratory classes, wide knowledge of modern laboratory and analytical techniques, experience of supervision within a laboratory environment, and the ability to oversee all aspects of safety in the laboratory.
- Experience in chemometrics, vibrational spectroscopy, product characterisation techniques including spectroscopy and time-resolved techniques, and multivariate data analysis.
The person appointed will join a multidisciplinary team working at the University of Nottingham in Chemistry and Engineering. The projects are led by Professor Mike George and also involve Professor Sir Martyn Poliakoff (Chemistry).
